Civil Designer I- Land Development

Position Description

As a Civil Designer I, you will work directly with senior team members to progress your knowledge of the land development process, coordinate to develop design solutions, develop an understanding of why things are done, and assist in the production of a variety of project types including commercial, multifamily, industrial, mixed-use, streetscape, and amenity design within a team of landscape and civil designers, landscape architects and civil engineers. As our firm continues to grow, we are searching for a civil designer to join our Charlotte office.

Duties

Collaborate with Senior Staff on design direction of project
Collaborate and communicate with team members on project tasks and deadlines
Manage assigned tasks, workload, and prioritize responsibilities
Critically think through assigned tasks
Learn the “how” of project design
Navigate and gain basic knowledge of appropriate ordinances in our geographic areas of work.
Effectively self-review plans
Understand AutoCAD standards and project standards
Support project team by performing basic plan production tasks related to all aspects of civil site design, including grading, stormwater, utility, and sedimentation erosion control plans.
Complete basic engineering calculations and technical summaries with senior staff guidance
Perform construction administration related tasks such as site visits, field reports, and as-builts with senior staff guidance

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar curriculum from ABET accredited college or university.
EI Registration

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge AutoCAD Civil 3D
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
A team player who is committed to a collaborative design process and the ability to work autonomously
Strong oral and written communication skills
