Civil Designer II- Land Development

Position Description

As a Civil Designer II, you will work directly with senior team members to progress your knowledge of the land development process, coordinate to develop design solutions, develop an understanding of why things are done, and assist in the production of a variety of type of projects including commercial, multi-family, industrial, mixed-use, streetscape, and amenity design within a team of landscape and civil designers, landscape architects, and civil engineers.

As our firm continues to grow, we are searching for a civil designer to join our Charlotte office.

Duties

  • Collaborate with senior staff on design direction of project
  • Collaborate and communicate with team members on project tasks and deadlines
  • Manage assigned tasks & workload on multiple projects
  • Critically think through design problems
  • Learn the “why” of project design
  • Knowledge of appropriate ordinances in our geographic areas of work.
  • Effectively self-review plans
  • Take steps toward professional licensure
  • Understand AutoCAD standards and project standards
  • Design and develop plans related to all aspects of civil site design, including grading, stormwater, utility, and sedimentation control plans.
  • Complete required engineering calculations and technical summaries.
  • Perform construction administration related tasks such as site visits, field reports, and as-builts

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar curriculum from ABET accredited college or university.
  • EI Registration

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, WaterCAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • A team player who is committed to a collaborative design process and the ability to work autonomously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with applicable state and local codes and jurisdictional permitting requirements
  • Knowledge and experience assisting with assembling permitting and construction document package
