Civil Designer III – Land Development

Position Description

As a Civil Designer III, you will work directly with senior and junior team members to progress your knowledge of the land development process, coordinate to develop design solutions, develop an understanding of why things are done, and assist in the production of a variety of type of projects including commercial, multi-family, industrial, mixed-use, streetscape, and amenity design within a team of landscape and civil designers, landscape architects, and civil engineers.

As our firm continues to grow, we are searching for a civil designer to join our Charlotte office.

Duties

  • Collaborate with Senior Staff on design direction of project
  • Collaborate and communicate with team members on project tasks and deadlines
  • Manage assigned tasks & workload on multiple projects
  • Critically think through design problems
  • Assist in business development activities
  • Know the “why” of project design
  • Knowledge of appropriate ordinances in our geographic areas of work.
  • Effectively self-review plans
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Understand AutoCAD standards and project standards
  • All aspects of civil site design, including stormwater and sedimentation control analyses, development of grading plans and construction and other industrial and commercial development

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar curriculum from ABET accredited college or university.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE required)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated design and modeling
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple tasks under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • A team player that is committed to a collaborative design process and the ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to manage tasks and time
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with applicable federal, state, and local codes and permitting requirements
  • Knowledge and experience assisting with assembling permitting and construction document package
